The CAN Foundation Announces 2025–2026 First Patron Artists-in-Residence
& a Residency Partnership with The Newport News Public Art Foundation
The CAN Foundation is honored to announce Rain Spann and MarieAnn Fluker as the 2025-2026 First Patron Artists in Residence.
From September 2025 - August 2026, Rain Spann and MarieAnn Fluker will receive studio space, mentorship, a $3,000 stipend, collaborative opportunities, shared network and resources, and a culminating exhibition. The artists will be mentored by Hampton Boyer and will share studio space with Dathan Kane, who is participating in a collaborative residency partnership between the CAN Foundation and Newport News Public Art Foundation.
The CAN Foundation First Patron Artist Residency is made possible by a partnership with City Center at Oyster Point and a Community Support Grant from the City of Newport News.
